On November 22, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam announced that a new group of 53 Australia Awards scholars will leave Vietnam in early 2017 to undertake postgraduate studies in Australia.
Reflecting Australia’s commitment to promote study opportunities for women and disabled Vietnamese, 38 of the 53 scholars are women and one awardee has a disability.

The Australia Awards, which are funded by the Australian Government, are prestigious international awards targeting the next generation of global leaders.

Awardees are able to undertake vocational education and training, professional development, research fellowships or postgraduate study at a university of their choice in Australia in a diverse range of areas.

The new scholars are the latest of a total of 5,800 Vietnamese students who have received long-term and short-term training opportunities from the Australian Government since the opening of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1973.
