91 further domestic COVID-19 cases added to national count at midday

91 more local cases of COVID-19 were confirmed positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in five localities during the six hours to June 5 noon, raising the national infection tally to 5,340 since the resurgence of the virus that hit nation more than one month ago, according to the Health Ministry.

The 91 newly detected cases include Bac Giang (65), Ho Chi Minh City (15), Bac Ninh (8), Ha Tinh (2) and Tien Giang (1).

The new cases in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh hotspots were mostly found in isolation and lockdown area pertaining to workers working at industrial parks, while those detected in Ha Tinh and Tien Giang are identified as F1 contacts with previously confirmed coronavirus patients.

Most of the new cases in Ho Chi Minh City are linked to the Revival Ekklesia Mission.

Besides, four further imported cases were also confirmed in the southern provinces of Tay Ninh and Kien Giang.

The country has so far posted 6,910 locally-transmitted cases and 1,549 imported ones.

The death toll remained at 51 and the number of recoveries totaled 3,242.

Meanwhile, Da Nang Lung Hospital announced that three coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital  after making a full recovery from the virus. They will continue to undergo a 14-day isolation period at their home under local health authorities' supervision.

The pandemic has so far attacked 37 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide, with Bac Giang and Bac Ninh recording the highest number of infections, at 2,929 and 1,025, respectively.
