Asia-Pacific University Rectors' Forum held in Da Nang

PSNews - Within the framework of the APEC 2017 Summit Week in Da Nang, the Ministry of Education and Training of the host country in collaboration with the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) and relevant subcommittees of the APEC 2017 National Committee on November 8 held the Asia- Pacific University Rectors' Forum, on the sidelines of the APEC CEO Summit, themed "Industrial Revolution 4.0."

The theme  was chosen as Industrial Revolution 4.0 is one of the priorities of the APEC 2017 and also the common interest of all APEC member economies.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc attended and delivered the opening speech at the Forum.

The forum witnessed the participation of more than 60 rectors of leading universities of APEC member economies, including top five universities of Vietnam, namely Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Da Nang University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and National Economics University.

A number of policymakers and leaders of enterprises who attend the APEC Business Summit also participated in the event.

The forum focused on some topics such as sustainability, Big Data, Asia-Pacific challenges; and employment opportunities in the age of digital economy and artificial intelligence.

This was the first time the Forum had been held in Vietnam. It was a chance for policy makers and managers in the education and training sector to hear ideas from experts, researchers and business leaders in order to draw up on time policies in training and human resource development to meet the requirements of industrial revolution 4.0.
