Bac Giang, Bac Ninh launch social distancing measures

The Department of Transport of Bac Ninh on May 19 officially stopped all passenger transport activities in the province, starting from 0:00 on May 20, given the new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Accordingly, all passenger transport activities of intra-provincial, adjacent and fixed-route buses, tourist cars and buses, and taxi will be prohibited in the province.

Chartered vehicles transporting workers and experts to industrial parks in the province are allowed to operate, provided that they comply with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.

Traffic inspectors in cooperation with the provincial police will check and handle all violations.

Earlier, the People’s Committee of Bac Ninh launched social distancing measures in Yen Phong district, and set up 7 medical checkpoints around the locality.

The province has recorded 336 locally-infected cases in the past two weeks. Thuan Thanh is the most critical COVID-19 hotspot in the province with 277 infection cases.

Relevant local forces have successfully found 3,200 people who had close contact with the COVID-19 patients and quarantined them.

Additionally, a field hospital is being built in Bac Ninh to treat COVID-19 patients.

In the neighboring province of Bac Giang, the provincial people’s committee recently ordered to apply social distancing measures in Bac Giang city from 3pm of May 19.

Earlier, social distancing measures were taken in the 3 districts of Yen Dung, Lang Giang and Viet Yen.
