Bui Vien Street is empty amid COVID-19 outbreak

PSNews – There is no music, no crowds of foreigners in Bui Vien Street, the so called “backpackers street” in Ho Chi Minh City, on these days due to the COVID-19 epidemic. 

The Ho Chi Minh Municipal People’s Committee decided to close all entertainment establishments, including cinemas, bars, game shops, and clubs from March 18 to March 31 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In response to the prohibition, many business establishments in Bui Vien Street has temporary closed.

Bui Vien is a walking street but this time, vehicles can run along the street.

Many shops’ owners said that they accept economic losses when stopping their business  to support the effort of the government and protect the health of other people.


Very few restaurants and convenience stores remain open in Bui Vien Street amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Bui Vien Street sees very few tourists on the weekend.
