As many as 598 people have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in 12 Vietnamese cities and provinces during the past 12 hours, including 520 cases in Ho Chi Minh City.

A COVID-19 affected residential area has been cordoned off to prevent the virus spreading to the wider community.

Among 593 locally transmitted infections, 409 were documented in quarantine or lockdown areas, while the remaining 194 cases were under epidemiological investigation as their sources of infection remain unknown, the Ministry of Health said in its 06.00am COVID-19 update on July 10.
