Trial runs on the whole route will be carried out from September 20, the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Transport’s Railway Project Management Board emphasized, adding that the trial period normally lasts from three to six months.

On the occasion, Mr. Phuong revealed that the Chinese contractor has been slow in completing the project and has not yet submitted a detailed trial run plan, maintenance procedures and system safety dossiers, which might slow down the project handover.

The Cat Linh-Ha Dong railway project was invested by the Ministry of Transport with adjusted investment totaling 886 million USD (more than 20 trillion VND).

The railway project is 13 km long and has 12 stations. At the beginning, it was scheduled to be put into operation in 2016, but now the project will be operational in late 2018.

The project has received official development assistance (ODA) from China. The China Railway Sixth Group is the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractor of the project.
