Contest on Fatherland’s seas and islands held for students launched in Hai Phong

PSNews – Le Tien Dat, student of class 8A2, Le Ich Moc Secondary School, Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City, has excellently won the first prize of the contest “I love my Fatherland’s seas and islands.”

On December 12, the contest “I love my Fatherland’s seas and islands” was launched for students in Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City by the High Command of Coast Guard in collaboration with the local People’s Committee.

The contest aimed at disseminating information and educating people, especially students about the Vietnam’s seas and islands, and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and the Law of the Sea of Vietnam.

The contest also provided local students with knowledge about drug-related crimes and the harms of illicit drugs.

The contest gathered 76 contestants from Hop Thanh, Duong Quan and Le Ich Moc Secondary Schools.

After the three exciting rounds, student Le Tien Dat from class 8A2, Le Ich Moc Secodanry School won the first prize of the contest.

Winner Le Tien Dat said that the contest helped him broaden his knowledge of Vietnam’s seas and islands, as well as the Law of the Sea, thereby made him love and hold responsibility to protect the national seas and islands. “I dream to be an officer of the Coast Guard,” said Dat.

Within the contest, the High Command of Coast Guard and kind donors also presented gifts to 14 local Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and handed over scholarships and bicycles to local needy students with excellent academic records, with a total value of 450 million VND.

Since 2013, the High Command of Coast Guard has successfully held 46 “I love my fatherland’s seas and islands” contests, with the participations of over 4,000 students from 53 secondary schools in 18 provinces and cities nationwide.
