Culprits behind airport’s cyber attacks identified
PSNews-The Department of Cyber Security under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has investigated and identified perpetrators of the cyber attacks on websites of Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Rach Gia, Tuy Hoa Airports on March 8, 9 and 10.
Between March 8 and 10, hackers attacked websites of various airports, including Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Rach Gia and Tuy Hoa, changing the interfaces and leaving their messages.
The Department of Cyber Security under the MPS succeeded in identifying the hackers, named K.D, 15, resident of Ward 15, Tan Binh District, HCMC, who managed to make use of security vulnerabilities of the website and attack the website of Tan Son Nhat Airport.
The other one, P.H.H, 15, resident of Trang Bom district, Dong Nai, culprit attacking the websites of Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Rach Gia and Tuy Hoa Airports.
Both of them sincerely made statements to the police, but claiming that they had intended to discover something and show off their achievements with other hackers.
Their behaviors were considered dangerous and might cause great damages to the air carriers, however, thanks to their sincere attitude, repentance and adolescence age, the cyber department collaborated with local police to apply administrative punishments and then handed them to their family for further education.
The Cyber Security Department under the MPS requests agencies and units to be active and regular in reviewing and inspecting the security of their network, and closely coordinate with the Cyber Security Department to immediately fix any arising vulnerabilities.
