Da Nang sets up more field hospital as local COVID-19 patients surge

PSNews - Recently, the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control of Da Nang decided to set up  one more field hospital in Hoa Vang district’s medical center, with the aim of serving the reception of and treatment for COVID-19 patients.

The 200-bed hospital will be used for quarantining and treating COVID-19 patients. It would ease the burden on the healthcare system and authorities could focus on extinguishing COVID-19 outbreaks at Da Nang Hospital, Da Nang Hospital C and the Orthopedic and Physical Rehabilitation Hospital of Da Nang.

Previously, the Da Nang Municipal People’s Committee planned to set up a 1,000-bed field hospital in Tien Son Sport Centre. This big field hospital is expected to come into operations on August 4 after four days of set-up.

The return of coronavirus in Vietnam since July 25 has caused six deaths. Da Nang, now Vietnam's largest COVID-19 hotspot. People are requested to stay at home and required to maintain a distance of at least two meters from each other in public. Gatherings of more than two people in public, except in offices, schools and hospitals, are prohibited.

Huynh Duc Tho, chairman of the people’s committee, said the Department of Health has been instructed to test 3,500-4,000 samples a day and quickly announce test results to end community transmission.

As reported, Vietnam’s leading private conglomerate Vingroup has donated 100 ventilators. VSmart VFS-510, an invasive ventilator based on the design of Medtronic, can be used for both adult and paediatric patients.

In addition, Vingroup’s Vinmec hospitals will be ready to lend medical equipment and health workers for the clinic sites in Danang. Vinmec Danang Hospital will offer treatment to patients with coronary intervention, bone trauma, and traumatic brain injury.
