Da Nang supports 90,000 people facing difficulties due to COVID-19
The Municipal People’s Council of Da Nang has just approved an aid package for the local people negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, who have not received support from the Central Government.
Accordingly, former revolutionaries, policy beneficiaries, former service members with illnesses to name but a few will benefit from the program.
Each beneficiary will get a three-month aid of VND 1.5 million. The total funding will be over 4.6 billion VND.
The city will also support nearly 4,700 teachers and contracted employees working at certain non-public educational institutions. Each person will receive a one-month support of one million VND. The total funding for this aid package will be nearly 4.7 billion VND.
According to a survey conducted by Da Nang’s Statistical Office in 7,164 enterprises, 89.9% of them have been hit by the pandemic. Particularly, 58.4% of the surveyed figure is not able to recover their production and business activities, 45.8% of the enterprises has been suffering losses while 44.3% has lost their markets and 30.9% has had shortages of imported raw materials.
179,000 laborers have been more or less hurt by the pandemic.
The authorities of Da Nang also passed a 231 billion VND package for medical equipment purchase and efforts to fight COVID-19.
