Dozens of illegal immigrants detained in Cao Bang

Border forces operating in the northern province of Cao Bang have successfully arrested dozens of Vietnamese expatriates as they attempted to enter the country illegally by crossing the border from neighbouring China.

Upon being questioned, members of the group confessed to having entered China for work purposes at some point between 2020 and the early part of this year.

Following their detection, all of the illegal immigrants were brought to an isolation area as part of efforts to protect the nation against the potential spread of COVID-19.

This comes after Chinese authorities at Tra Linh border gate handed over 64 Vietnamese citizens on July 7, including two children, to Cao Bang’s border guards after they had illegally entered the northern neighbour.
