Final farewell to the legendary announcer

The once time legendary announcer Trinh Thi Ngo - whom the Americans always called as 'Hanoi Hanah' has passed away in Ho Chi Minh city at the age of 87 - As said on prominent literary translator Trinh Lu personal facebook page.
Accordingly, Trinh Thi Ngo, the legendary announcer of The Voice of Vietnam (VOV), has passed away in Ho Chi Minh city at the age of 87. Her funeral was held on October 2nd. Her coffin was buried in Long Tri Commune, Chau Thanh District, Long An Province.
Trinh Lu wrote: ''Last time on phone, Hanoi Hanah refused to meet David Bradbury and his camera crew whom was trying to make a documentary about VOV during the war. She does not want to meet anyone in the press again. I understand. She has lived through a dramatic period of journalism, war, and the postwar, through all the flashy fames, and now she just wanted to get out there, to find her way "home". Goes in peace Hanoi Hanah. Who knows, maybe in another life, there would be someone could seek for her, to make her be an announcer again".

Ms Trinh Thi Ngo is the daughter of bourgeois Trinh Dinh Kinh,who was called as "The King of Indochina Glass". Since a child, she had learned French and English by native speakers. In 1955, she started working at the Voice of Vietnam.

Also, immediately after her first broadcast program, US radio has informed: Hanoi radio now has a female announcer with very sweet voice enough to lull Americans soldiers. The Americans started calling her "Hanoi Hannah" and it has been following her career since then. She received title Meritorious Artist from Vietnam State.
