First e-Visa holders enter Vietnam via Lao Bao International Border Gate

PSNews – As Decree 07/2017/ND-CP of the Government started to take effect from February 1, Lao Bao International Border Gate (Quang Tri province) welcomed the first two international visitors holding e-Visas on February 9.

The first two tourists using e-visas to enter Vietnam are Libor Machelek and Aneta Sritrova from the Czech Republic. Earlier, on February 6, they applied for e-Visas to enter Vietnam while they were in Laos. Only one day after their request, the two travelers received the e-Visas.

Since February 1, 2017, after Decree 07/2017/ND-CP came into force, there have been a lot of international visitors registering for e-Visas to Vietnam. The number is still on the rise and the Vietnam Immigration Department is receiving and handling applications as fast as possible.

According to Decree 07/2017/ND-CP, foreign visitors can applied for e-Visas online from February 1, 2017. The service will be piloted for two years, applicable to citizens from 40 countries.

The Border Guard forces have actively exercised the plan, organized training for officials working at border gates to strictly implement Decree 07/2017/ND-CP so as to offer quick service to tourists on arrival.
