The E Hospital will become the first public health center in Northern Vietnam to offer such a service in the hope of bringing comprehensive healthcare to all people.
This kind of service is perfectly suitable for many people who are unable to go to hospital. They may be elders or children. It will also help to save patients’ and their kin people’s time, avoiding them waiting tiresomely and stressfully at hospital.
Doctor Vu Ngoc Thanh, Director of the hospital, hopes this service will be able to satisfy all patients.
The hospital has currently offered extra training courses to all doctors and nurses and prepared all necessary facilities and conditions to conduct examinations and various tests at home, while it has also considered fast and safe methods to transport patients to hospital in emergency cases. Health workers of the at-home healthcare service are also required to be good at communications and professional expertise.
It will be a challenge for the hospital, however, Doctor Le Ngoc Thanh says, it is time to consider real changes in working attitude and style of the health sector. Public hospitals should not wait for patients; instead, they must be more proactive in serving and meeting the needs of patients.
