Flash floods causes over VND 540 billion to Mu Cang Chai

PSNews- The latest report from the Provincial People’s Committee of Yen Bai, by August 9, the floods in Mu Cang Chai had caused 6 deaths, 8 other missing and injured 9 other people, ruined 61 houses and left 60 families with 342 residents homeless. 

Various vehicles deployed to search missing people and property

The disaster also damaged 165 public buildings and 75 hectares of crops, swept away 11 motorcycles and 23 cattle.

Various public education facilities of 3 schools, including the district’s high school, primary and secondary school and Hoa Lan Kindergarten, experienced severe damages.

The total losses have reached VND 540.44 billion.

Policemen helping local people overcome difficulties after the disaster

Regarding the post-disaster relief, Yen Bai province has mobilized local forces to coordinate with reinforcements of nearly 2,400 troops from the provincial military command, and Military Region 2; deployed over 135 vehicles of all kinds to search missing people and property, and overcome flooding consequences in the district. The province’s authorities also organized relocation and offered temporary shelters to 99 households with 531 people, of which 39 households with 189 people lost their houses and 60 households with 342 people lived in dangerous areas.

The province supported over VND 3.2 billion in cash and more than 10 tons of rice, 3,000 cottons of instant noodles and other essential items for families suffering losses of people and houses in accordance with the regulations. The authorities also sent medical teams to take care of the injured, instructed local people in the flood-hit areas to clean the environment and decontaminate the surroundings.
