Flash floods in Mu Cang Chai cause losses of nearly VND 300 billion
PSNews-Up to now, the total damages caused floods in Mu Cang Chai district is valued at about VND 290 billion, including VND 80 billion of people’s assets.

According to the Disaster Prevention and Rescue Committee of Yen Bai province, as of 8 am of August 7, the floods in Mu Cang Chai resulted in 5 deaths, 9 people missing and 9 others wounded, and damaged 60 houses, of which 53 ones were swept away or collapsed and 5 were partially damaged, directly affecting 192 people.
On August 6, five bodies were found while functional forces were still searching for other victims.
Local forces along with reinforced forces from the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police, Military Zone 2, which totaled 2,270 people (370 soldiers, 500 militiamen, 100 police officers, and local businesses and people), participated in flood relief activities. The local authorities managed to mobilize 135 vehicles of various types, including 18 construction vehicles, 90 cars of all kinds, 8 excavators, 1 bulldozer, 2 rescue boats, 10 racks and 6 large capacity pumps to search missing people and assets in flooded area and along the Nam Kim stream.
The district also relocated and arranged temporary shelters for 51 households with 263 people whose homes were washed away by floods.
Yen Bai province supported more than 1.4 billion and over 2 tons of rice for victim families with the aim of preventing victims from suffering hunger, cold and diseases.
The province also tried to provide necessary items for the affected households to temporarily stabilize their lives; and at the same time, survey land to build homes for the affected households.
