The Supreme People’s Procuracy on September 14 issued an indictment to prosecute former Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and his accomplices for their involvement in a violation case related to the land plot at 2-4-6 Hai Ba Trung Street in HCM City.

Those also prosecuted former Director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)’s Light Industry Department Phan Chi Dung, Former Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Tin, former Director of the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment Dao Anh Kiet, and six others.

This is the latest developments in the case of “violating regulations on the management and use of State assets, causing losses and wastefulness” and “violating regulations on land management” which occurred at the MoIT and in HCM City and were related to the construction of a six-star hotel and trade and convention centre on the over 6,000sq.m land plot. This is an extremely serious case which has drawn public concern.

Hoang and his accomplices intentionally violated regulations on the management and use of State assets and land management by shifting the right of management and use of the land plot at 2-4-6 Hai Ba Trung Street from the State to a private company, causing a huge loss of over 2.7 trillion VND (116.5 million USD).
