GM Vietnam joins hands in protecting mangroves
The US car joint venture in Vietnam in collaboration with the Center for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD) launched a mangrove protection and climate change response programme on June 27, in Giao Thien commune, Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province.
This programme, which was a part of the activities in celebration of the World Environment Day, aims to raise public awareness of mangroves' role in reducing climate change impacts and protecting the marine environment.

Nearly 100 workers and leaders of GM Vietnam as well as other 200 volunteers planted 500 trees in a mangrove forest of the Xuan Thuy National Park (Nam Dinh), under the guidance of the park’s staff.
Mangroves play an important role in maintaining biodiversity, reducing pollution and minimizing negative and direct impacts of climate change on our daily life.
Planting trees in the Xuan Thuy National Park is a significant and practical activity, aiming to preserve and develop living environment for the local community in particular and natural ecosystem in general.
Additionally, a brief workshop themed "The role of mangroves for biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation of the coast area" were held on the same day.
In the spirit "We Care - We do it for you", GM Vietnam and MCD built a 100sqm playground for children in the area of the Giao Thien Commune Cultural House in Giao Thien commune.
