On December 25, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment in collaboration with the local authorities of Binh Sa commune, Thang Binh district held an official recognition ceremony to receive the Vietnam Heritage Tree certificates for the three gold apple trees in the Forefather Worshiping House of in the Tien Chau village.

The 218-year-old tree to the right of the house measures 2.75m in circumference, 1.05m in diameter and 20m in height. The 173-year old tree to the left of the house measures 2.63m in circumference, 0.84 m in diameter and 18.1 m in height.
The gold apple tree in the back of the house has 3.73m in circumference and 18.1m height.
According to the historical record, the Tien lineage house was built in 1873 in recognition of the specific merits of Mr. Chau Van Dinh, who contributed significantly to the village and was ordained as the locality’s forefather by King Gia Long.
Mr. Chau Van Dinh was born in Ha Tinh, in the late sixteenth century, he then was sent to the South to reclaim new territories. Chau Van Dinh with his family established new villages in Quang Nam province.
The recognition of the three trees has marked as an important event of the locality, bearing deep humane values, as this has displayed the gratitude to national forefathers and elicited patriotism and national unity on one hand, and improved public awareness of the preservation of rare genes of plants in Vietnam.
On behalf of the local people, hero People's Armed Forces - Lieutenant General Chau Van Man, former Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Public Security Forces, expressed his delight at the event.
He also proposed the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment to recognize 10 other trees in locality as national heritage trees for better protection and preservation.
