Google Doodles honors ancient town of Hoi An
PSNews - Google Doodles on July 16 honored Hoi An ancient town on its Vietnamese homepage, a World Cultural Heritage recognized by the UNESCO and named the ancient town “The world's most charming city 2019” by readers of Travel + Leisure in July 2019.
This is the first time that Google Doodles has honored a specific place of Vietnam.
Google Doodles are special images, temporarily replacing the Google’s logo on its homepage to celebrate major holidays, events, achievements or people with important contributions in many areas.
Google Doodles has shown various artworks to honor the cultural features of Vietnam or mark various anniversaries of the country, including the Vietnamese Teacher’s Day, the Autumn Moon Festival and the National Day.
Hoi An is on the downstream of the Thu Bon River and about 30km South of Da Nang City. The majority of houses and buildings, particularly pagodas in Hoi An are of the typical architecture of the 17th to 19th centuries.
Hoi An is also the land mixed between Eastern and Western cultural features with clubs, pagodas and temples of the Chinese and Japanese styles and houses of the French architectural style.
The UNESCO recognized the ancient town of Hoi An as a World Cultural Heritage in 1999.
