HCM City Police seize 3,300 smuggled cigarette packs

Ho Chi Minh City police in collaboration with Hoc Mon provincial police on January 4 caught two suspects who were smuggling 3,300 packs of cigarettes from Cambodia.

The smugglers were Nguyen Thanh Toan, 51, residing in Hoc Mon district, and Ngo Gia Huy, 41, residing in District 3.
The suspects have been under police surveillance for a while. According to the police, these suspects used motorbikes to illegally transport huge number of cigarette packs from border area between Long An province and Cambodia into Toan’s house located at Dong Lan-Hung Lan road, Ba Diem commune, Hoc Mon district.
Toan was caught red-handed, when he was selling hundreds of different types of smuggled cigarette packs to Huy.
A further investigation is underway.
