The authorities of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) have ordered all malls and markets in the city to limit the number of shoppers.

Given the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic in the city, particularly the appearance of the dangerous nCoV variants from the UK and India, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee of HCMC Nguyen Thanh Phong asked all competent municipal departments and district-level authorities to stop certain kinds of services and business. All people with such symptoms as cough, fever or difficulty in breathing, should stay at home, avoid going to offices and other public spaces, and follow instructions of the medical sector.

The number of shoppers and visitors to traditional markets or malls must be limited.

The Municipal Department of Information and Communications and the Department of Internal Affairs were assigned to activate command centers in prevention and combat of COVID-19 from May 27.

The Department of Health should update pandemic developments in the city on 6 pm daily. Information dissemination about the pandemic and counter-pandemic regulations should be enhanced. All citizens should heighten their sense of responsibility for their health and the community’s safety. People over 60 are advised to stay home as much as possible.

Processing and industrial zones and hi-tech parks should coordinate with the Department of Health and local authorities to adjust the working shifts according to the health regulations.
