Ha Long City to intensify check of local tourist cruise ships

PSNews – From November 15 to December 25, the authority of Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province in collaboration with local functional forces will carry out a general inspection of tourist cruise ships operating in Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay.

Currently, Ha Long City is managing 504 tourist cruise ships, including 478 ships are operating in Ha Long Bay, and the rest are operating in BaiTu Long Bay.

The inspection will focus on technical safety, fire safety and rescue tools, environment protection, and facilities. The tourist cruise ships must also meet the regulations on crewmembers, on-board service staff, surveillance camera system, and other relevant business and operational conditions. The inspection team will carefully check the ship-owners’ observance of the labor regulations as well as the crewmembers’ observance of operational regulations.

Previously, in order to well manage tourists boats, the authority of Ha Long City had intensified the supervision and monitoring of all activities of local cruise ships.

Since the beginning of 2018, 36 cruise ships, 15 crewmembers and on-board service workers have been suspended from operating for some time in Ha Long Bay, and 41 cruise ships have been banned from operation. Ha Long City also destroyed 80 water vehicles involved in violations of the regulations on the management, protection and promotion of Ha Long Bay.
