In addition, it is important to get a better understanding of the schedule of all Vietnamese or foreigners who have recently arrived from epidemic areas in the RoK, so they can undergo a period of isolation, said Mr Tung.
He emphasised the necessity to isolate local people returning to the country from Daegu and Gyeongsang province in the RoK so their health conditions can be closely monitored.
Tung also requested that the tourism sector advise people to restrict their travel to foreign countries, especially those that have been hit by several COVID-19 cases.
Currently, the city Department of Health and the Vietnam-Czech Friendship Hospital have been preparing facilities and medicines in an attempt to prevent the epidemic, while also deploying medical isolations at the second branch of the Vietnam - Czech Friendship Hospital.
As of the end of February 23, Hai Phong had not recorded any cases of the COVID-19 infection while any suspected cases have been closely monitored and put into quarantine, with test results coming back negative for the virus and individuals subsequently discharged from hospital.
A total of 334 out of the 336 people who had been put into quarantine areas in the second branch of the Vietnam - Czech Friendship Hospital have had their isolation period ended and have been released.
