Hanoi beset by heavy fog

Hanoi has been under a blanket of fog for the past three days, causing difficulties for traffic and local people going about their daily lives.
The fog began to spread across the capital city from January 2. So far the fog has only become denser. To Huu Street is enshrouded with fog on the morning of January 4.
Nhat Tan Bridge fades into the thick white mist.
Construction site workers on Luong The Vinh Street persist in the bleary weather.
On Pham Hung Street, Vietnam’s tallest building is in the same situation. The top floor of the building is obscured by mist at a distance of about 100 meters.
Vehicles move more slowly on Thang Long Avenue. Many motorbikes must resort to using their lights.
The fog also spread to Chuong Duong and Long Bien Bridges.
It gets denser at night-time when temperatures drop.
Le Duc Tho, Chau Van Liem, and Ho Tung Mau Streets on the evening of January 3.

On Thang Long Avenue, in front of the National Convention Centre,  visibility is reduced to 20 meters, pedestrians can’t see the buildings and urban areas beyond.
The fog and humidity  are forecast to last until January 7 when the northern region will be under a new cold spell.
