PSNews – The Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee has proposed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to lower the Hong River dike to 12.4 meters, from Thang Loi hotel to An Duong gate.

Explaining about the project, the local authorities said, after the project has been finished, the road will be equal to the existing local frontage road and roadside houses, facilitating travel of locals and traffic.

What is more, a new lane will be added to the road, and direct overpasses can be widened, improving the urban landscape.

The Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee has consulted scientists to figure out waterproof and non-slip solutions in order to stabilize the dike and walls, ensuring flood capacity and safety for the Hong River dike.

Currently, there are several hydropower dams built on the Hong River upstream to regulate its water flows. This has limited the risk of flooding (within Hanoi area). Therefore, the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee suggested lowering the dike.

Besides, Hanoi also proposed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to approve a project to build an overpass at the intersection of An Duong – Thanh Nien road.
