The information on the impending ban was released during a conference held by the Hoan Kiem district People’s Committee on October 1.

As a result, the campaign will see a smoking ban carried out at 30 of the capital’s 190 historical and cultural tourist sites around Hoan Kiem district.

The locations include Ngoc Son temple, Ba Kieu temple, Quan Su pagoda, Ba Da pagoda, the Vietnam National Museum of History, the Vietnam Museum of Revolution, the National Library of Vietnam, the Hanoi Opera House, St. Joseph's cathedral, Ham Long church, a historical relic house located at 48 Hang Ngang street, Hoa Lo prison, the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre, the Cinéma Palace, and the Heritage House.

In line with the plan, "no smoking" signs will be erected throughout these tourist hotspots during October. Both local people and visitors will be fined if they intentionally violate the regulation.

In addition, the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee are also set to implement the smoke-free model in 12 restaurants and 11 hotels across the district.
