PSNews - From January 9th, Hanoi officially started informing indexes form the automated environmental monitoring system on the city’s cyber portal, said Phan Lan Tu - Director of the Hanoi Information and Communications Department.

Accordingly, the website https://hanoi.gov.vn/quantracmoitruong provides detailed figures on the city’s air quality. The move is part of its effort to develop a "Green, cultural, civilized, smart and friendly" city, to create favorable conditions for the city dwellers and visitors as well as to raise public awareness of environmental protection.

Hanoi has so far installed 10 air monitoring stations, including 2 continuous automated monitoring fixed stations providing air quality, and 8 sensor stations measuring air quality indexes in a number of the city’s places, to monitor, manage and model the quality of surrounding air.

Data displaying on the map will help people easily track and compare the air qualities between different places. The system also provides the history of air quality at various times, the comparison of air qualities between the present and a past time, and recommendations or warnings for people when the air quality changes.

Hanoi has also installed a rain gauge sensor system at 22 places in the city. Information will be displayed on a digital map, and real-time data are automatically updated.  Besides, the system also informs people of rainfall indexes at the access time, at the start of the rain, and total rainfall within 24 hours.

The flood monitoring system is a new one, which displays the situations of the 16 food-prone places with updated information in every 30 minutes.
