Hanoi quarantines all returnees from pandemic-hit localities

Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh on July 21 issued Dispatch No.16 on the implementation of urgent measures to prevent and control COVID-19 pandemic in the capital.
In particular, all people returning to Hanoi from COVID-19 hit localities that are undergoing social distancing must isolate at concentrated, quarantine centers from 0 am on July 22.
Only those conducting COVID-19 prevention and control tasks will be exempt.
The city leader also asked local authorities to strengthen surveillance in the community, and closely manage and supervise those returning from other provinces and cities to minimize the risk of transmission from pandemic-hit areas.
Chairman of People’s Committees of Hanoi's districts and communes are required to draw COVID-19 prevention and control plans, organize drills and assign functional forces to be on duty around the clock at authority's offices and at local medical establishments to deal with any emerging situations.
The Center for Disease Control, medical examination and treatment facilities, and health centers of districts and towns in the city are requested to to quickly take samples for testing for all cases with symptoms such as cough, fever and breathing shortness.
The city leader also instructed the city Department of Health to create the capacity to quarantine around 50,000 people, prioritizing outer areas.
