Hanoi starts Year of Traffic Safety 2018 campaign

PSNews - The National Traffic Safety Committee and the Hanoi Municipal People's Committee on January 3 jointly launched the Year of Traffic Safety 2018 in Hanoi, themed "Traffic Safety for Children", and an intensive traffic safety campaign during the Tet and festive season 2018.

Speaking at the event, Standing Deputy Minister Truong Hoa Binh affirmed that, over the past years, under the leadership of the Party and the participation of the whole political system, the traffic safety work has witnessed positive changes.

Standing Deputy Minister Truong Hoa Binh urged the National Traffic Safety Committee, ministries, agencies, mass organizations and People's Committees in all provinces and municipalities to disseminate and implement effectively key tasks in 2018, including the implementation of Directive 18-CT/TW (dated September 4th 2012) by the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee on strengthening the Party’s leadership on ensuring safety and order on road, railway and inland waterway traffic; the Government’s Resolution 88/NQ-CP (dated August 24th 2011) on adopting key measures to ensure traffic safety and order; and the Directives of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on ensuring traffic safety.

The Deputy PM also requested involved agencies to continuously complete institutions on traffic safety, and build a civilized traffic culture in the society with a focus on ensuring traffic safety for children; gradually modernizing support equipment for the traffic police and inspection forces, and investing in and improving key public transport infrastructural projects among others.
