Hanoi strictly bans crawfish production and trading

PSNews – The Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has just issued Official Dispatch No. 1537 / SNN-CCTS on prohibiting the production and trading of invasive alien species in Hanoi city.

Currently, crawfish that is not on the list of aquaculture species allowed to be traded in Vietnam is publicly posted for sale on several websites.

According to the newly issued document, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development asked its sub-units to promote information about the harm of invasive alien species, including crawfish, and to take measures to eliminate these harmful species.

The department also urged its sub-units to focus on prevent the trade, stocking and transportation of these species.

The relevant agencies were asked to seize and report cases of violation as soon as they detect any invasive alien species.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, crawfish is listed as a harmful invasive alien animal in Vietnam, which harms the country’s agricultural production.
