The Hanoi Municipal Department of Education and Training on May 14 announced that, four out of the five Vietnamese students competing at the Nordic-Baltic Physics Olympiad (NBPhO) have won medals.

Accordingly, Tran Dinh Dung won the gold medal, while silver medals went to Nguyen Manh Duc and Le Duc An, and Dinh Tran Hai Chien brought home the bronze medal.

They are all in Grade 11 at the Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

NBPhO was first launched on 2003 with the participation of 20 contestants from each country.

In 2021, the competition was planned to be held in Sweden from May 8-13. However, due to the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic, the competition was held in an online format.

This year marks the first time that Vietnam has sent contestants to the competition. Within the competition, participants must take a 5-hours exam, including both theory and practice part.
