Hanoi to host Int’l Conference on Vietnamese Studies

The fifth International Conference on Vietnamese Studies will be held in Hanoi on December 15-16, announced the Vietnam National University (VNU) – Hanoi on December 8.

The conference will be organised by the Vietnam National University – Hanoi under the theme “Sustainable Development in the Context of Global Change”.

It aims to establish an international academic forum for experts to discuss and propose solutions to tackling temporary issues that Vietnam is dealing with in the context of global change.

It also gathers and connects researchers and experts from various fields and different countries in promoting the global network of Vietnamese Studies.

The conference will cover six specialised fields: diplomacy, international cooperation and integration, cultural resource, education and human resource, knowledge and technology transfer, economy - livelihood and climate change.

Vice President of VNU – Hanoi Nguyen Huu Duc, Head of the organising board, said that the conference is expected to draw 150 scientists, experts and policymakers from 30 countries and territories.

The number of research on Vietnamese Studies amounts to 40,000 and works of foreign scholars account for 50% of those, he added, affirming that many international researchers are paying attention to Vietnamese Studies.
