Hanoi to recover narrow and tiny houses

PSNews - The Hanoi Municipal People's Committee has ordered subordinate agencies and local authorities to review and recover narrow houses with an area of less than 15 square meters for public purposes.

The policy targets narrow private-owned premises that were formed after road projects before 2005.

According, the city authority approved the Department of Construction's proposal to review and recover narrow buildings with an area of less than 15 square meters for public purposes. If such narrow houses that are not attached to the nearby ones in 30 days, they will be restored into public land.

However, the small-area houses that are located within other structures, extended parts of larger residential buildings or have been lived by people for a long time will be kept untouched and integrated into larger nearby structures.

Leaders of Hanoi city also asked commune- and district- level authorities to take full responsibility if more tiny and narrow houses appear in their management areas.
