Hundreds of people join Ekiden 2019

Hundreds of runners participated in the 4th Ekiden running contest on November 24 at Le Parc Shopping Center, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi.

The contest, themed “Japan in Vietnam’s heart”, was organized by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) in Vietnam and partners.

This year’s contest saw the participation of 70 teams with 280 athletes, who came from various businesses and organizations in Hanoi.

Ekiden is a relay running contest originating from Japan. Each members of a team runs a section of the track and passes the Tasuki relay band to his/her team-mate at a designated position. The total running time of all members of the team is the team’s record.

Tasuki is the symbol of solidarity, friendship and cohesiveness.

At this year’s run, the “Hanoi Running Club” ranked the first place in the largest number category, while “Team Rikkyo” won the mix gender relay running category.
