In pictures: Vinh Long province hosts dog beauty contest

The Vinh Long Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on January 1st in collaboration with the Vinh Long Pet Society held the 1st dog beauty contest in 2017.

| As many as 60 dogs with various types such as Phu Quoc dog, Welsh Corgi, H'mong dog, Bull Terrier dog from Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City and Kien Giang Province have participated in this special contest. |

| All "contestants" are vaccinated and being taken to the contest by its owner. The participating dogs are divided into 3 groups: under 10 kg (mini group), over 10 kg (medium group) and indigenous dogs. |

| Qualified dogs need to meet 3 criteria: appearance, skeletal structure, and beaviour. |
 |
| After a number of fierce competitions, the organizers awarded 2 first prizes (worth 10 million VND each), 2 second prizes (worth 5 million VND each), 2 third prizes (worth 3 million VND each) and some consolation prizes to outstanding candidates. |
