PSNews – In order to improve the efficiency of the prevention and fight against Covid-19, the Gia Lai authorities and police forces have taken various approaches, including disseminating information about the disease for people, especially ethnic people living in remote areas.
According to Mr. Ro Cham Don, a resident of O village, Ia Sao Commune, Ia Grai District, the local authority has popularized information about Covid-19 while holding meetings on citizenship and national service.
During the meetings, local officials also instructed people how to correctly wear facemasks and wash hands with soap. At the same time, they recommended local people to eat well-cooked food and boiled water, and avoid crowded places to prevent Covid-19 infection.
The local authorities also regularly spray disinfection chemicals in residential areas and guide people to protect environmental sanitation.
Dak Krong Commune of Dak Doa District is home to 1,497 households with 5,664 residents, most of whom are of the Bahnar ethnicity.
According to Mr. Vu Dang Tuan, Chairman of the Dak Krong People’s Committee, after receiving the information about the Covid-19 situation, the local authority immediately advised people not to travel to the affected areas.
They also invited local reputable and elderly people and religious dignitaries to disseminate information about Covid-19 to the community.
Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Minh Hanh, Head of the Criminal Investigation Section on Economic and Drug Related Crimes of Dak Doa District said that, the local police closely coordinated with the Dak Doa District Medical Center to hold public meetings to guide local people to Covid-19 prevention.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health said that information dissemination is an important and effective method to raise awareness of local people, especially ethnic people living in remote areas.
He said, at the moment, local people have become more aware of Covid-19 prevention.
