International University to be founded in Can Tho

PSNews - Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha has supported the idea of establishing an International University in Can Tho while disagreeing with the city’s proposal to open Architecture University and University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

According to a report from the Can Tho Municipal People's Committee, there are 16 provincial-run universities, colleges and professional schools, and 3 universities under the management of the Ministry of Education and Training, with 117,548 students.

At the meeting with Minister Phung Xuan Nha and his entourage on February 8th, Chairman of the Can Tho Municipal People's Committee Vo Thanh Thong proposed the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) to continuously support local education and training institutions with more facilities and experts so that they can better implement their missions of producing high-quality human resources for the whole Mekong Delta region.

He also proposed MOET to advise the Government to soon approve the city’s project to open University of Architecture, International University and University of Social Sciences and Humanities in order to meet the needs of the region for workforce in these areas.

Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha affirmed that he only backed the idea of building International University, asking the locality to soon submit the project for further consideration.
