Kien Giang holds ceremony to rebury found remains of martyrs
PSNews – The Provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, People’s Council, Fatherland Front and the Armed Forces of Kien Giang solemnly held a ceremony to rebury the remains of 66 martyrs.
The martyrs included Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who had performed the international service in Cambodia, and fallen troops during the national liberation war against US invaders in Kien Giang.
At the ceremony, the participants spent a minute of silence to see the fallen servicemen off, wishing them to rest in peace in the heroic land of Kien Giang.
During the dry season of 2017-2018, the special search team K92 had searched and collected 57 sets of remains of the fallen Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Siha Nouk, Koh Kong and Kam Pot provinces of Cambodia, 9 others in Kien Giang.
Since 2001, Kien Giang has collected and repatriated 1,997 sets of remains of fallen Vietnamese soldiers and experts from Cambodia.
Mr. Do Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Kien Giang Provincial People’s Committee, delivered a speech at the ceremony, expressing deep gratitude to the martyrs who had sacrificed themselves for the independence and freedom of the country and the happiness of the people.
