It said on August 26 that marijuana had been sent from California and Philadelphia of the US to three persons in HCM City and one in the central province of Binh Dinh.

The drug had been divided and hidden in many packages of foods, cosmetics and personal effects and then sent to Vietnam at different times.

By using professional measures, the customs body discovered and seized 5.24kg of marijuana. The recipients in Vietnam have also been arrested.

Since the beginning of 2018, the Tan Son Nhat Airport customs agency has uncovered 42 batches of goods containing nearly 57kg of marijuana trafficked from the US to Vietnam via Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
