PSNews - Nearly 500 doctors and staff of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion have just registered for donating their organs.

The National Coordination Center for Organ Transplantation in collaboration with the Vietnam Human Bodies Donation Mobilization Association and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion held an event on August 25 afternoon to receive people registering for organ donation.

Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion Nguyen Anh Tri speaking at the meeting.

The event was part of the first large-scale campaign organized by the National Coordination Center for Organ Transplantation. Nearly two weeks after the launch, nearly 500 officials and workers of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion have registered to donate their organs and tissues.

Speaking at the vent, Prof. Trinh Hong Son, Director of the National Coordination Center for Organ Transplantation stated that the organ transplantation service had faced scarcities of sources of donated organs. So far, 7,400 people have been registered to donor their organs after their deaths.

Therefore, that nearly 500 doctors and staff of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion have just registered for donating their organs has been significant,  encouraging staff in the health sector and people from all walks of life to donate their organs and tissues to save other people and serve scientific research.

Prof. Trinh Hong Son also pointed out the fact that there are now only two medical facilities including the National Coordination Center for Organ Transplantation and Cho Ray General Hospital, which have a network of communications, consultation and registration for organ and tissue donation.

That does not seem to have supported people in exercising the right to donate their organs and tissues, as well as in popularizing organ donation movements to all people in the country over the past years.

According to Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion Nguyen Anh Tri, Vietnam needs to promote communications in this field. Donating organs and tissues is a humane activity. Government officials, especially doctors and health workers should actively participate in this humane revolution.

The two medical facilities officially providing organ and tissues donation communication, consultation and registration services are below:

  1. The Cho Ray General Hospital: 210B Nguyen Chi Thanh street, district 5, Ho Chi Minh City.
  1. The National Coordination Center for Organ Transplantation: 40 Trang Thi street, Hanoi.
