New COVID-19 cases infected with India and UK variants

PSNews - Results of genomic sequencing tests of COVID-19 cases newly detected in Vinh Phuc, Ha Nam, Hung Yen, Ha Tinh confirmed that the cases are infected with India and UK variants of corona virus. 

The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE) recently took samples of COVID-19 infection cases detected in Vinh Phuc, Ha Nam, Hung Yen and Ha Tinh provinces for genetic sequencing tests to trace its origin.

The results show that:

Samples taken from three COVID-19 patients who are working at Sunny Club in Vinh Phuc Province showed that they had contracted B.1.617.2, found in India.

Six samples in Ha Nam, two in Hung Yen and two in Ha Tinh (taken from two patients traveling from Laos to Vietnam by road) showed that they were infected with UK variant B.1.1.7.

India COVID-19 variant has been found in at least 17 countries. 

In a related move, some provinces and cities in Viet Nam have closed schools from Tuesday amid the high risk of COVID-19 community infection.
