New “no-balloon” academic year ceremonies launched across the country

PSNews – About 22.5 million students on September 5participated in opening ceremonies for the new academic year at schools throughout the country.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on September 5 attended a new academic year ceremony at Son Tay High School, Hanoi.

He was joined by Phung Quang Nha, Minister of Education and Training; and Nguyen Duc Chung, Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee.

Meanwhile, the new academic year ceremony at Thap Muoi High School, Thap Muoi District, Dong Thap Province saw the presence of Chairwoman of National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam joined students in opening the new academic year at Le Van Tam Primary School, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh attended the new academic year ceremony at Hoang Hoa Tham Primary School, Thanh Hoa City.

Speaking at the new academic year opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khang, Headmaster of Marie Curie School said that: “For the school, the 2019-2020 academic year is a year for the environment. All teachers and students at the school will minimize the use of plastic items such as nylon bags and replace with biodegradable items.”

In the 2019-2020 academic year, the education sector continues to carry out 9 major tasks groups and 5 groups of basic solutions, which will focus on educating standards of morality, healthy lifestyles and life skills for students, rearranging the school network, investing more land for the education sector to gradually reduce the number of overpopulated schools in big cities.

Thua Thien Hue Province this year had more than 200,000 fresh-comers to local primary, secondary and high schools.

New academic year ceremonies at schools in Hue City such as Gifted Hue High School, Hai Ba Trung High School, Vinh Ninh and Le Loi Primary School, Nguyen Tri Phuong Secondary School were held briefly in a joyful atmosphere.

Hoang Trung Hai, Secretary of the Hanoi Municipal Party’s Committee on September 5 attended a new academic year ceremony at Hanoi-Amsterdam High School. Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue sent congratulation flowers to the ceremony.

Together with students nationwide, on the morning of September 5, 1.7 million students in Ho Chi Minh City entered the new school year. The city saw an increase of nearly 76,000 students in the school year 2019-2020 compared to 2018.

In Da Nang, over 260,000 students of all levels also attended the new academic year opening ceremony on September 5 and entered the first school day.

This year, the Da Nang Municipal Department of Education and Training instructed local schools to organize a brief ceremony without speeches of leaderships.
