The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has sent a dispatch requesting that Noi Bai International Airport and local airlines suspend passenger entry from June 1 as part of efforts to bolster the nation’s measures against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

A CAAV representative revealed that the suspension of international flights arriving at Hanoi-based Noi Bai International Airport will last until June 7, while outbound flights departing from the airport are due to continue as normal.

Furthermore, the CAAV also moved to extend the suspension on receiving flights from abroad through Tan Son Nhat International Airport until the end of June 14.

Previously, experts, technical experts, foreign workers, and returning Vietnamese citizens had been permitted to enter the country through Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, and Van Don airports, before being put into quarantine at military facilities, hotels, and other businesses.

The suspension on welcoming international flights in Hanoi comes following Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City temporarily suspending receiving passengers from May 27 to June 4 due to the increasingly complicated developments relating to the COVID-19 pandemic in the southern city.
