Officials to get punishment for going to pagoda in working hours

PSNews – Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh on February 2 officially issued a decision to establish a disciplinary council, to consider punishing officials, who went to pagodas in working hours.

The council, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, will be led by Deputy Minister Tran Quoc Khanh.

Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade had officially confirmed the information, reported by Vietnam Television on the evening news program on February 7, showing that a group of officials of the Ministry of Industry and Tradehave visited a pagoda during their working hours.

The ministry on its official report says, these officials work at the Export Assistance Center of the Trade Promotion Department.

The report also says that having known the case, Minister Tran Tuan Anh asked the Trade Promotion Department to quickly identify the truants and report to the leadership of the Ministry on February 8.

The ministry also said it will take a serious disciplinary action against the individuals and groups involved in the case after receiving the report from the Trade Promotion Department.

Earlier, the Prime Minister has issued a directive requesting all officials of ministries, agencies and branches to take on working seriously in the post-Tet holiday time.

Under the PM’s instructions, public servants are not allowed to go to festivals or pagodas during working hours or use State-owned cars for private purposes or such activities.

All staff are also banned from partying during working hours.
