The 2020 “No Smoking Challenge” has officially been launched by the Portal of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Tobacco Control Fund under the Ministry of Health and Vital Strategies, a global public health organization.

The contest, in response to the World No Tobacco Day (May 31) and Vietnam’s No Smoking Week (May 25 to 31), is themed “Protecting the youth from the advertisement and use of tobacco products”, launched by the World Health Organization.

The contest aims to attract nations around the world to tobacco prevention while highlighting serious harms of nicotine addiction especially among young people.

In particular, the contest is one of the various activities in response to the call of the World Health Organization to help people understand the tricks in advertising tobacco products, which often cause confusions to smokers as well as protect the health of themselves, their families and the community.

All people who are 35 and under can participate in the “No Smoking Challenge”.

With the message “Vietnamese youths say no to cigarettes and e-cigarettes”, young people can participate in the contest by recording short interesting video clips on anti-smoking activities and posting publicly on TikTok app with hashtags #WNTD2020 #ThanhnienVietNam, #Noikhongvoithuocla and #NoSmokingChallenge.

Video clips should be 15 to 60 seconds long, containing contents like protecting the youth from the use of cigarettes of all kinds as well as protecting old people, pregnant women and children from the harms of smoking.
