Outstanding farmers with contributions to new-style rural area building and national defense honored at the event.

A ceremony was held on October 12 to honor outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2019 on the occasion of the 89th founding anniversary of the Vietnamese Farmers Union with the participation of Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai.

The event was jointly held by the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Farmers’ Association, the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

At the event, Head of the Central Commission for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai highlighted the worthy contributions of farmers and affirmed the significance of farmers, agriculture and rural affairs to national construction and defence.

She stressed the need to motivate farmers nationwide to boost their innovation and contribute further to creating the foundation for an advanced and modern agriculture. 

"Agencies and organizations at all levels should create favorable conditions for farmers to access advanced technology, develop cooperative models, replicate production business models, and combine agriculture with the processing industry and value chain export markets. Farmers’ associations should always renew their operations, ensure the legitimate rights of farmers, and connect farmers with the Party and State", she added.

Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association Thao Xuan Sung said the event honors the talents and contributions of farmers to developing agriculture and promotes their roles in national industrialization and modernization.
