As part of efforts to ease Hanoi’s traffic congestion, the Ring Road No.1 runs parallel to De La Thanh Street and has a total length of 2.274 km.

The project will use nearly 160,000 sqm of land, including 83,000 sqm of residential land, 16,000 sqm of institutional land, and nearly 54,000 sqm of space on existing roads. It also has two overpasses, on Giang Vo - Lang Ha and Nguyen Chi Thanh Streets.

Construction will include parking lots, green spaces, technical infrastructure, landscapes, and sidewalks, and is expected to be completed in 2020.

In addition, the site clearance and resettlement costs require VND6.4 trillion ($284.4 million), with 2,328 households affected. On average, every one meter of the road needs investment of up to VND3.5 billion ($1.5 million).

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has recently signed a decision approving investment in the construction of a section of Ring Road No. 1 from Hoang Cau to Voi Phuc Streets in Hanoi, with total capital of nearly VND7.8 trillion ($346 million) to come from Hanoi's budget and other sources.
