HANOI - Work started in Hanoi on October 17 on project worth more than VND2 trillion (US$90 million) to expand Tam Trinh Street. Hoang Trung Hai, Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, was present when construction began.
The project measures more than 3.5 kilometres in length, meeting Minh Khai Street at one end and meeting Belt Road No. 3 at the other end.
Of the total funding, VND1.6 trillion (US$72 million) will be spent on land clearance, while construction will account for over VND243 billion (US$10.9 million).
The project, which has been contracted to the Truong Son Construction Corporation, will be implemented in sync with road surfacing and the installation of water supply and drainage systems, the lighting system, sidewalks and green trees.

According to Nguyen Quang Hieu, Chairman of the Hoang Mai District People’s Committee, all the agricultural land has been cleared and clearance work is being sped up on several other sections of land in order to ensure the timely progress of the project.
Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung hailed the project as being of extreme significance to facilitating traffic between the inner city and suburban areas, contributing to minimising existing congestion for the southern gateway.
He asked Hoang Mai’s district authorities and relevant agencies to promptly complete all procedures and start construction with the aim of putting the project into operation soon.NDO
